If only collecting my digital files together in one place and in one format were as easy as collecting online coupon codes! I'm completely lost about digital files - jpegs and gifs, MP4s and AVIs, and everything in between are just confusing. I hardly understand why one format won't play in a certain device, or why another device can record in one format but not the other. I especially do not understand how you're supposed to convert one file into another - in fact, the only way I know to change these files is by clicking on the "save as" button.
My tech-savvy nephew tried to educate me on the technicalities of transferring music and video from one file format to another. We spent three hours at the computer, with him explaining software and compatibilities and file formats before he finally gave up.
My niece fared no better, until she came upon my favorite coupon code page and noticed a tag for Nero coupon codes. She looked like she had finally found the solution to problem that had been bugging her for a very long time. Clicking through to the links, she happily told me, "I didn't know you had Nero coupon codes. These will be a great help - you won't even need additional equipment!"
After asking my permission to use my credit card, she then proceeded to click though the links on the Nero website, asking me questions here and there to determine which software bundle I needed. Did I back up my files regularly? How did I store my digital media? Did I want to concert files for posting on social networks, or did I just want to burn them onto DVDs to send to family members across the country? I didn't understand why her questions were relevant, but I answered them anyway, and dutifully paid for the purchases she chose. Using a Nero promo code had really helped - the software's cost was considerably lower than what it would have been without it. I only hoped that I would learn to use it.
When the boxes arrived, my niece and nephew set to work. They installed the software on the computer and patiently instructed me on the use of each program. I slowly learned that you could burn high definition files on DVDs so that their viewers could enjoy them better, that I could make back ups of all my files easily (and for next to nothing, too!) and burn them onto the appropriate type of disk. I also finally learned that some software was meant for converting files into one format from another format, and which files were compatible with which devices. Who knew that a simple software package could open so many doors?
