Payment Policy:Q: Why does my bank statement show two entries for the same order? Was I charged twice?
A: If you pay for your order with a debit card, your bank statement will show two entries at the same time, a pre-authorization and the final sale. The pre-authorization hold will fall off within a couple days, depending on your bank's policies. This hold allows us to verify that funds are available, allowing us to begin processing your order. Unfortunately, with a debit card, the pre-authorization hold and final charge aren't combined into one single transaction.
Q: What is a "Verbal Authorization" and why do you need one for my order to ship?
A: A brief conversation with a Customer Service Representative is sometimes necessary to verify credit card information. This is known as a "verbal authorization" and it protects cardholders from unauthorized purchases. If you receive an E-mail requesting a verbal authorization, please give us a call at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, so we can get your order on its way.
Q: How do I pay by cashier's check or money order?
A: It's easy to pay with a cashier's check or money order. Once you have everything you want to purchase, call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers. We will enter your order and provide you with the order number, total dollar amount and payment address.
Please note: Hot Topic can only accept cashier's checks and money orders, not personal checks or cash. We will fill your order and hold the package until we receive your payment. Payment must be received within 10 business days or the order will be canceled.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN A CASHIER'S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER WITHOUT PREVIOUSLY CALLING TO PLACE AN ORDER. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROCESS ANY ORDERS THAT ARE NOT CALLED IN PRIOR TO RECEIPT OF A CASHIER'S CHECK OR MONEY ORDER.
Q: If I use a cashier's check or money order, when will my package be shipped?
A: Your package will be shipped upon receipt of your cashier's check or money order. Please keep this in mind when selecting your shipping method. As with all orders, please allow 2-3 business days for order processing.
Q: Can I pay with my Hot Topic gift card?
A: Yes! Once you get to your shopping cart, simply enter the gift card number(s) into the field(s) provided. Remember, if you're using four or more gift cards, you'll need to call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, so we can place your order.
Q: Can I use my Torrid gift card for a Hot Topic order?
A: Sorry, but Torrid gift cards can't be redeemed at Hot Topic stores or at Hottopic.com.
Q: How much is left on my Hot Topic gift card?
A: To find out how much is left on your Hot Topic gift card, just call Customer Service at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers. We'll be happy to give you your balance.
Q: What happens if I use a gift card but an item on my order is sold out?
A: If you've used a Hot Topic or Torrid gift card as payment for your order and an item has sold out, you'll be receiving a refund check in the mail. This refund process can take 2-3 weeks but before you know it, you'll have a check waiting for you in your mailbox!
Q: Can I pay with my Hot Topic paper gift certificate?
A: Paper gift certificates can be used online by placing your order over the phone. Once you've gathered up everything you want to purchase, call us at 1.800.892.8674, or +1.626.709.1189 for international customers, so we can place your order, provide you with an order number, total dollar amount, and payment address. We will fill your order and hold the package until we receive your paper gift certificate. Paper gift certificates must be received within 10 business days or the order will be cancelled.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN A PAPER GIFT CERTIFICATE UNTIL YOU HAVE PLACED YOUR ORDER WITH OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER.
Please Note: If your order total is more than the value of your paper gift certificate, you can include a money order or cashier's check for the difference.
CASH MAY NOT BE USED IN COMBINATION WITH PAPER GIFT CERTIFICATES.
If your order is more than the value of your paper gift certificate and you'd prefer to pay the remaining amount with a VISA, Master Card, Discover, or American Express card, we will enter that at the time of ordering. If your order is less than the value of the paper gift certificate, you will receive a refund check for the difference. If the difference is less than five dollars, you have two options: you may choose to upgrade your shipping option, or you can receive a refund check for the difference. The check will be automatically mailed to you within 45 days. We are very sorry, but paper gift certificates may not be exchanged for cash or credit.

Orders are processed Monday through Friday and ALL ITEMS ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY. Please allow 1-2 business days for order processing, before your package is shipped. Orders are not processed or shipped on weekends or holidays. Please keep this in mind when selecting your shipping options.
All order status communication is done via E-mail, so it is important that your E-mail address is accurate and current. You will receive an E-mail confirmation at the address listed in your hottopic.com profile. Please check for your confirmation. In addition, we will also notify you by E-mail if there was an issue with filling your order. Shipping fees are based on your order's value, destination and shipping method you choose.

FedEx Standard Overnight delivery is available to street addresses in the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii only. Allow 1-2 business days for processing, pending availability and credit card approval. Orders will arrive in 2 business days from the ship date. Delivery time may be delayed in some rural areas. All deliveries are picked up at Hot Topic in Tennessee by FedEx and delivered by FedEx. Signature required for delivery.

FedEx 2 Day

Orders will arrive in 4-6 business days from the ship date. Orders ship Tuesday-Saturday. All deliveries are picked up at Hot Topic in Tennessee by FedEx and delivered by FedEx.
FedEx Ground / Home Delivery is not an option for Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, P.O. Boxes, APO / FPO, or U.S. territory addresses.
FedEx Puerto Rico Priority
FedEx International Priority delivery is available to customers located in Puerto Rico only. Allow 1-2 business days for processing, pending availability and credit card approval. Orders will arrive in 2-4 business days from the ship date. All deliveries are picked up at Hot Topic in Tennessee by FedEx and delivered by FedEx.
FedEx Puerto Rico Priority is not an option for the continental U.S., P.O. Boxes, APO / FPO, or U.S. territories or International addresses.
USPS Express
USPS Express delivery is available to International addresses and Guam only. Allow 1-2 business days for processing, pending availability and credit card approval. Orders will arrive in 10-14 business days from the ship date. All deliveries are picked up at Hot Topic in Tennessee by USPS and delivered by USPS. USPS Express is not an option for US, APO, FPO, or Puerto Rico. Certain countries may charge additional fees, such as custom fees and independent carrier fees. Hot Topic cannot anticipate these fees and will not be able to reimburse you for any additional fees incurred. Please contact your local customs office or branch office of the US Postal Service to determine what type of fees you may expect based upon the type of merchandise you wish to order. We're sorry but we are not able to designate any packages as gifts.
USPS Priority
This method is available for Military addresses and the Virgin Islands shipping addresses only. All USPS Priority shipments are subject to delays, and sometimes can take 6-8 weeks to arrive to the final destination. Tracking detail is not available for this particular shipping method. However, the percentage of USPS Priority shipments not reaching the destination is less than 1% and we consider them a very reliable shipping source for all APO, AE destinations. All Priority shipments will be shipped when there is a minimum of 50 pounds in packages to be delivered. Upon the minimum weight requirement being met, USPS Priority will pick up on Tuesday and/or Friday of that week. This makes all shipments via USPS Priority subject to delays of 1-2 weeks before the order ships out.

A: Before we get started, we should mention that you can return items to Hot Topic stores! How convenient is that!
* Please save the invoice received with your package. It's your receipt!
* Hot Topic must receive the return within 45 days of purchase, mmmkay?
* CLEARANCE MERCHANDISE CANNOT BE RETURNED/EXCHANGED. ALL SALES ARE FINAL ON CLEARANCE MERCHANDISE. We have that part in all caps to make sure you see it.
* If an exchange is needed, you'll be charged for the new order and then credited when Hot Topic receives the original merchandise back.
* Sorry, original shipping cost is not reimbursed on returns or exchanges.
* Shoes and clothing can be exchanged or returned but not if the product has been worn or shows visible signs of wear. Don't run through the woods with the stuff, mmmkay?
Q: How do I send something back?

1. Is this going to be a return or an exchange?
2. What item number(s) and item(s) are you going to be sending back?
3. What is the reason you're sending the items back?
4. What is the first and last name the order is listed under?
5. If this is an exchange, what are the replacement item number(s), item(s) and size(s)?
Pretty painless, huh? Remember, to get a Return Authorization number (RA#, or RMA# if referred to by FedEx), you must call or E-mail us BEFORE sending your product back! A FedEx Return Label will then be issued and
E-mailed to you. Returns that are not accompanied by a Return Authorization number will be sent back to the customer. Returns and exchanges take approximately 2-4 weeks for processing. We appreciate your patience!
If you live outside the continental United States, we're sorry but we won't be able to provide you with a return label or reimburse you for return postage costs. You may return the item(s) using any method available. However, we do recommend using a method that can be tracked to avoid lost merchandise.
Additionally, if you do live outside the continental United States, there may be additional fees charged by the Customs offices in your country, once the product has been exchanged and re-shipped to you. Hot Topic will not assume responsibility for these fees, nor can we reimburse you for any fees incurred.
