The beautiful thing about working from home is that you get to control the way your office looks and functions. But when I set up my home office, I knew exactly what I wanted, but was afraid that it would cost too much. My husband, dear that he is, simply sent me a link to a collection of HomeOfficeSolutions.com coupon codes, and told me not to worry.
So I got to work on setting up the best home office ever.
· Seating - The first order of business was to find a big cushy chair that looked like it belonged to the office space I had. I wanted it to be ergonomic, because I knew I would be spending a lot of time there, but I didn't want it to look like a man's office chair. After looking through dozens of models, I finally found the exact one I liked at the Home Office Solutions website.
I also got a small couch and two smaller, less imposing chairs for guests to sit in.
· Desk space - Finding a desk was a lot easier, as my main consideration was the way it looked and how many cubbyholes it had to store my knick knacks. I also placed it where it was not facing the doorway or the window, two very big distractions for me.
The desk also housed a simple filing system where forms and papers were filed into "needs immediate attention", "must get to soon", and "for filing".
· Lighting - I made sure I had a lot of natural light coming in from the windows behind the desk so that it illuminated my work station for most of the day. But for the time when I needed artificial light, I had a lamp right behind my pc screen, where it would light up the keyboard and anything else I was working on
The rest of the room I kept softly lit, using mostly recessed lighting that I could turn on and off using a switch on the wall behind me.
· Storage and filing - This was the kicker. Turns out that I had a lot of papers that needed proper storage and filling, so I bought tons more of this than I originally thought I needed. Luckily I had my HomeOfficeSolutions.com coupon codes, which I used to keep my costs in check.
When my husband came to view the final product, he was astounded at what I had done. He was even more surprised when I showed him how much it had cost. He had figured it would cost much more. When he asked how I did it, I just reminded him of the HomeOfficeSolutions.com coupons he had given me, and it blew his mind.
