I got nostalgic today while I was browsing through an assortment of coupon codes on the Internet especially when I chanced upon some gifts and flowers coupons that instantly brought back memories of how my dad gave me a wonderful surprise back when I was in college.
It was actually the sight of some Flowers Fast promotion codes that reminded me of that special Valentine's Day when my dad had a beautiful bouquet of white roses delivered right at my dormitory. Since I had been away from home for quite some time because I was busy with so many things at the culinary school I went to in New York, I knew my dad missed me as much as I missed him. We were very close to each other and I always talked to him to ask for advice on anything about my life and my studies as well.
My dad knew how hard I was working to keep up with the rest of my class because we had managed to constantly keep in touch despite the long distance that kept the two of us apart for so long. Even though he was usually out of town, I would email or sometimes call him to relate the interesting things that happened to me at school. There were times when I called him everyday and he would patiently and enthusiastically listen to my culinary adventures and misadventures. He was a good listener and he would always end our conversations with the words "You might want to take a good rest and smell the roses."
I really enjoyed talking to my dad and I would tell him how beautiful the kitchens were at my school, how amazing my teachers were, and how so many good looking guys flocked around me. I remember how he laughed when I told him how I wished the earth would open up and swallow me whole when one of the chefs didn't seem to be too satisfied with the dish I prepared during an examination.
Anyway, back to why the sight of those Flowers Fast promo codes made me remember my dad. It was sometime in February then when our class was divided into groups for a simple exercise of baking a Valentine's Day cake. No matter how cheesy the idea sounded, we found ourselves excitedly discussing different concepts to come up with the most special Valentine's Day cake.
When our group agreed on a recipe we were going to use, we named our pet project Fusion because we wanted our Valentine's Day cake to signify the fusion of two people's hearts and minds. Fortunately, despite the time pressure, the preparation went smoothly and we were able to make the cake exactly how we envisioned it to be.
I was the happiest one in the group because it was my concept that was chosen and our chef instructor loved our finished product. Happy as I was that day, the best moment was yet to come when I arrived at my dorm after school. There was a wonderful bouquet of white roses there with the note saying, "It's time to smell the roses. Love, Dad." It was the sweetest gesture that made me even more ecstatic that day. I called my dad right away to thank him for the roses and to share with him the most wonderful day I had in my culinary school experience.
