I run a small business out of my home, and I love it when I'm able to connect with clients on a more personal level. I used to think this would entail hiring an image consultant and spending tons of cash, but it turns out it's pretty affordable. I also found out that it's even more affordable with the use of online service providers that have online discounts, like Checks In The Mail promotional codes.
Anyway, I coordinate events - mostly weddings and parties for corporate clients. I know how important image can be to clients, and how important it is in business. Your image is connected to how people feel about your company, and that in turn affects how much they trust you with their business.
This is especially important in my line of work. It's important that you come off as professional, but not too impersonal. After all, it's part of my job to get to know the people behind an event and project their personality into the event as much as possible.
While it's good to connect to the clients as a person, it's even more essential that they perceive the business to have a personality of its own. So I go out of my way to create a professional personality to go with the business entity. For one thing, I make sure that none of my work correspondence goes out on my personal stationery.
I have a separate set of stationery for correspondence that's personal (thank you notes and the like) and one for professional correspondence (invoices, contracts, and promissory notes). That way my clients get the same personal touch from my business that they would as if they were interacting with a very different individual other than myself.
I have these made expressly, and I order a new batch online whenever I'm on my last thirty sheets. But before I do that, I do a quick scan online to pick up Checks In The Mail coupons, which I use to cut back on the cost of having them made.
I even send Christmas cards and birthday cards to regular clients, to show them how important I consider their business.
Even my checks don't look like everyone else's. They're decorated not only with the company's logo, but also with different patterns and colors, and I change them often. A quirk of mine is that I usually have three checkbooks and all of them have different-looking checks. I think my suppliers find them as amusing and fun as I do. Of course, part of the fun comes with the savings that I get when I use Checks In The Mail promotional codes when I order them, but then again, they don't need to know about that part.
