When dealing with collections and collectibles, knowing where to find good deals is crucial. Sometimes you can find the best bargains with a little sleuthing on the Internet - as was the case with a doll collector friend of mine and her discovery of Charisma Brands coupon codes.
My childhood friend Joann has been a serious doll collector since she was a teen, taking up the dd from her mother and her mother's mother. She has a large number of valuable antique dolls that she inherited from her mom and grandmother, and a bunch of dolls that she collected from auctions across the country and online. Some she even purchases straight from manufacturers. Whenever I visit, I make it a point to drop by the "doll room", a large study and library in Joann's home where she kept all of her dolls.
It's always an awesome sight, the huge number of daintily dressed, child-like figures all looking out from where they sit. Dozens upon dozens of dolls unblinkingly smile at you from neat rows on several display shelves and atop drawers. Joann's current favorite is usually propped up against her computer, all pretty in the sunlight from the large bay windows that overlook their impeccably kept backyard. She's never kept there for very long, of course, because the sun's rays usually damage the doll's hair.
I've often marveled at the expense that goes into these lovely toys, but Joann assures me that it doesn't cost as much as people think it does if you know how to manage your buying. "All you need is patience, a nose for a bargain, and a good eye," she says to me glibly. "Sometimes people don't even know what they're giving away. I've found dolls being sold for a fraction of what they're worth at antique sales and on ebay. For the newer models, though, it's a little harder. For those, I look for online coupons." She clicked on a link and showed me a bunch links for Charisma Brands coupon codes. "These happen to be my some of my favorites. They let me get great discounts on some of the nicest dolls by some of the best designers in the business."
The dolls still cost a pretty penny, admits Joann, especially those that come from auction houses that have had them appraised. But they are a joy to have, and the satisfaction she gets from completing a set of her beautiful treasures makes it all worth it in the end. She also knows that these dolls will accrue in value as time goes by, even those that she got brand new from the manufacturers. At the very least, she says, the dolls will be something to pass on to her daughters and their daughters in turn, keeping alive a family tradition.
