I never really understood what team spirit was until I met Carla. She was the daughter of a neighbor whom I had shared online coupon tips with over coffee sometime, and one time I noticed that she was decked out in orange from top to toe. Which wouldn't have been such a big deal, if her paint hadn't been painted with patterns in orange as well.
I asked my friend about it, and it turns out that Carla was a cheerleader for the university she attended, and that she was very active in preparing prep rallies and the like. She was also engaged in fundraising activities for the sports clubs - apparently not all the uniforms and the equipment came from the school. Some funding came from private donations, and the students themselves raised some.
"Problem is," my friend conceded, "that even fundraising costs money". She then proceeded to tell me about a project that the students at Carla's university had launched for the lacrosse team. They had custom mugs and t-shirts made, and it had cost them so much that the team barely made enough.
It was then that I remembered that I had come across a few Campus Colors coupons while I had been surfing that morning, and I told my neighbor I'd send her some right over for her daughter. I sent them off as soon as I got home that night, and didn't give them a second thought. However, it would become apparent a few days later that it had been the right thing to do.
Carla wrote me a letter of thanks, saying that the Campus Color coupons were great ideas and that she already had plans for them. Her university's football team, she said, had a very good chance of making it to the championships, and if they did, a bunch of students were planning to attend the games in jerseys and shirts that mimicked the ones the athletes wore as a way of showing their support.
She'd looked over the site and was happily surprised how much less the items would cost with the Campus Color coupon codes that I sent, especially since they had planned to buy so many of the items. She promised to tell me how things went at the games, and ended the letter with a final word of thanks.
A month and a half later, Carla was at my doorstep, dressed in a customized orange, black, and white jersey and holding a platter full of cookies decorated with the same colors. Their team had won, and they were celebrating with a huge party - using some of the profits that they were able to earn during fund raising activities for the football team.
