Payment Policy:What are my payment options?
BabyCenter gladly accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express. We cannot accept payment by cash, check, or money order. Note that your credit card must have a U.S. billing address.
Will I have to pay sales tax?
That depends on where your order is being shipped. State laws require us to collect sales tax on merchandise shipped to states in which we have a physical presence. In accordance with those laws, we charge sales tax on orders shipped to California, Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island. There's no sales tax on orders shipped to the other 43 states, FPO/APO, Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories.
The tax rate applied to your order will generally be the combined state and local rate for the address where your order was shipped. Therefore, the sales tax rate applied to your order may be different for an order shipped to your home address than it is for an order for the very same items shipped to your work address. Babycenter.com obtains sales tax rates from a leading tax rate service provider. Consistent with state laws services such as gift wrapping and/or shipping charges may be subject to sales tax.
Is it safe to use my credit card?
We have taken important steps to make sure shopping at BabyCenter is safe. Our servers use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), an advanced encryption technology that safeguards your personal information. It works with Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 3.0 and higher), Netscape Navigator (version 2.0 and higher), and AOL (AOL 3.0 and higher). When will my credit card be charged?
Your credit card won't be charged until your items are shipped from our warehouse. If your order is split (divided up into more than one shipment), you'll be charged for the merchandise in each portion of your order when it ships. As for shipping charges, the base shipping charge will be applied to the first shipment and any oversize shipping will be charged when the merchandise to which it applies is shipped. There's no extra shipping charge when your order is split ? you'll pay the same amount you would have if the items had been sent together.
Shipping Policy:How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?
With standard shipping, most items in our store arrive in three to eight business days. There's a base rate of $5.99 per order (an order can include multiple items) plus a $.40 per-pound fee, up to 50 pounds, for each item. Large and bulky items take a bit longer and cost a bit more because oversize charges apply. We try hard to keep our shipping charges as low as possible.
Note: Shipping weight shown on the product page for each item is greater than the weight shown for the product itself because of packaging. In other words, a stroller that weighs 8 pounds may weigh 10.35 pounds with its manufacturer packaging.

Standard shipping
Standard shipping in the United States: $5.99 per order plus $.40 per pound up to 50 pounds (plus oversize charge, if any) per item. Check the product page to see if an oversize charge will apply; you'll also see oversize charges during checkout.
Standard shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, and FPO/APO addresses: $5.99 per order plus $.40 per pound up to 50 pounds per item.
Two-day express shipping
You can choose two-day express shipping for most items shipped to a street address in the United States (except Alaska and Hawaii): $12.99 per order plus $.99 per pound up to 50 pounds per item.
When you're in a rush, make sure your order is processed that day by ordering no later than 1 p.m. Eastern time/10 a.m. Pacific time.
Two-day express is not an option for some oversize items or for shipping to P.O. boxes, FPO and APO addresses, Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere outside the United States.
Oversize surcharge
Certain large and bulky items, such as most strollers, cribs, and larger furniture items are considered oversize by our shippers, and a surcharge of between $5-$250 per item is applied in addition to regular shipping charges. These surcharges are based solely on extra charges levied by our carriers for transporting these items.
Unfortunately, oversize items cannot be shipped to P.O. Boxes, FPO and APO addresses, Alaska, Hawaii, or anywhere outside the United States.

How does BabyCenter handle oversize items?
What is an oversize item?
Certain large and bulky products, such as most strollers and cribs, are considered oversize by our shippers. How will you know if an item is oversize? On our site, we indicate which items are oversize on the product page (that's the page that shows a picture and a description of the product). During checkout, we also clearly indicate which items are oversize and show you the shipping charges.
Are there special restrictions on shipping oversize items?
There are a few:
* We can ship oversize items only to street addresses in the United States (except Alaska and Hawaii). They can't be shipped to P.O. boxes, APO and FPO addresses, or anywhere outside the United States.
* Two-day express shipping is usually not available for some oversize items, so most are shipped via Standard shipping.
* Oversize items are shipped separately from other items in your order.
Do I have to pay more for shipping on an oversize item?
Yes, we add a special surcharge of between $5-$250 per item to cover the extra expense charged by our carriers for transporting large and bulky items. To learn more about what you'll pay for shipping, see How much does shipping cost and how long does it take?
Does BabyCenter ship outside the United States?
We regret that we can't ship to any other countries right now. (Also, the credit card you use to place an order must have a U.S. billing address.) We ship non-oversized items to all 50 states and to Puerto Rico, U.S. territories, and FPO and APO addresses.
Can I have my order shipped to more than one address?
No, everything in a single order must be shipped to the same address. If you want items shipped to separate addresses (as gifts, for example), you'll need to place a separate order for each address.
I only received part of my order. What's going on?
Don't panic! Everything is probably fine. Sometimes we "split" your order into two or more shipments because one part of it is oversize or simply because we ship from multiple locations to make sure you receive your items as quickly as possible. You'll only pay the base shipping charge for your order once, even if it's split into several shipments.
Oversize items must be shipped separately. So if you order something oversize, we'll ship the oversize item in one package and the rest of your order in another. To learn more about the special handling of oversize items, see How does BabyCenter handle oversize items?
In very rare cases, an item goes out of stock after you place your order. If this should happen, we'll remove the out-of-stock item from your order and you won't be charged for it. And, in the unusual event that we remove an item or cancel your order because something is out of stock, we'll e-mail you right away to let you know.

How do I return an item?
Sending an item back
We ship merchandise from various locations, so you'll need to make sure you're returning your item to the right place. Most packages will include a return form or return address label, but some won't. Here's what to do in either case:
If your packing slip does include a return form and address label, just follow these three simple steps:
1) Complete the return form included on your packing slip and pack it with the item. 2) Use our original box and packing material to prevent damage in transit. 3) Use the return address label provided on your packing slip and affix it to the outside of the box. 4) Send your return via FexEx, United Parcel Service or insured U.S. mail, using the return address label attached to the front of the packing slip.
If your packing slip doesn't include a return form or return address label, please e-mail us or call us toll free at (866) 710-BABY (2229) for specific return instructions. We're open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Damaged or defective merchandise
If you receive an item that's damaged or defective, rather than sending it back, please e-mail us as soon as possible or for faster service call us at (866) 710-BABY (2229), and we'll remedy the situation.
